Ron Hranac brings nearly 27 years experience in the
cable industry to High Speed Access Corporation.
As Vice President, RF Engineering, he
is responsible for worldwide RF and
cable engineering. Prior to joining High Speed
Access Corp., Mr. Hranac served as Senior
Vice President, Engineering for Coaxial
International,
a Denver-based cable television
consulting firm.¡@In that capacity, he provided
clientson five continents with
strategic planning, training and technical
management relatedto a variety of engineering
issues. His responsibilities included
network architecture development, technical
evaluation of cable systems and the development of
system maintenance programs.
Previously, Mr. Hranac served as Senior
Vice President of Editorial at CT Publications
Corp., guiding the editorial direction of the
cable industry's largest technical publication,
Communications Technology.
He remains Senior Technical Editor for
Communications Technology and sister
publication years with Jones Intercable
in various engineering capacities, and seven
years with TelePrompter Corp.
Mr. Hranac's industry activities include
the publication of more than 200
articles and papers, and he is past
chairman of a National Cable Television
Association ad hoc Subcommittee to research
75-ohm traceability at the then
National Bureau of Standards. He has been and
seminars around the world, and in 1997 he was
inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers. He was
named among CableFAX magazine's 100 most
influential people in the cable industry in 1998.
Mr. Hranac is a Fellow Member of Society of Cable
Telecommunications Engineers and serves as an At-Large
Director on the Society's Board of Directors.
He was a member of SCTE's Board of Directors
from 1987 to 1993, and during that time
served as Chairman of the Board,
Secretary and President of the national organization.
In 1987 he was the first
person in the cable industry to be certified in SCTE's
Broadband Communications Technician/Engineer
(BCT/E)program, and has completed certification at
both its Technician and Engineer levels. He is a former
member of SCTE's Executive and Engineering Committees,
is past chairman of three Society subcommittees,
and has served on the Scholarship and Interface Practices
Subcommittees. He presently chairs the Planning
International Liaison Subcommittee, and is a member of
Member Subcommittee.
In 1989, Mr. Hranac became the first American
to be elected an Honorary Fellow¡Xthe
highest membership level¡Xin the British
SCTE. At the local level, he is one of the founders of
the SCTE's Rocky Mountain Chapter,
a past Vice President and
Treasurer, and served on its board of directors
for four terms.
